Redeemed mine for free some time back.. Unfortunately the lady at the ION branch wasn't super helpful. She just stuffed 3 sachets of the same type to me. I heard that at the other branches, they were given 3 different sachets for different skin types to try out.

Colourless, not much fragrance as well..

Well actually it simply smells like oil..

4ml of classic cleansing oil.

Feels pretty clean after washing!

Except it couldn't remove my eye makeup! I think I should probably use my eye makeup remover first before moving on to this step of cleansing.

It's really efficient though!

But it's so expensiveeeeee..

If not I would have loved to try the pink bottle cleansing oil for pore tightening purposes.

It is definitely something that I need, mega huge ass pores have always been huge problem of mine.

Maybe when I'm mega rich, or I have too much money to spare (HAHA!), I shall buy a bottle to try out.

But I don't understand why the Mini Dutch Treats Collection has only 4 colours.

Okay I get the meaning of mini. 4 colours is probably alot. But I was hoping they would package a few different sets of colours. I don't like the pale shimmery pink in the Mini Collection, why can't they include the taupe and greens??!

The new Nicki Minaj Collection boasts 6 colours, with 1 Shatter and 1 Glitter.

The Nicki Minaj Mini Collection looks really good too, but again..

The pinks are holding me back from purchasing.

1 mini set costs about $22

Which is around $5 for a bottle.

Granted, it's smaller in size, but these polishes seems to be never ending no matter how much you use it anyway. The colours look really amazing in this set too.

I am so going to lust after everything..

I believe my sample sachet is the pink bottle one. FOR DRY SKIN.

So yea I tried this sample today!

Received it on some random occasion when I walked into the store..

SPF 30 BB Cream.

Very good. I love BB creams with a minimum of SPF 30.

SPF 15 is really not sufficient for the weather in Singapore.

The texture is really thick.

As you can see, it's beige colour. Hmmm...

I was a little skeptic about how it might turn out, since my ZA White Plus Instant Brigntener is more of a pinkish tone and contains pearl powder to brighten even the dullest complexion.. The pink tone is also more suitable for Asian skin tone. So this beige colour wasn't very wow initially. But..I shall be adventurous!

It blended in so well, that I can't find it anymore.

Niceeeeee..

Luckily, the colour suited my skin tone too. It's not really noticeable, the texture is really blendable too.

Hard put to decide if I love this more or my ZA more. My skin looked flawlesssss after putting this on, why so awesome!?

It also doesn't feel icky or really heavy, like it's clogging my pores.

EXCEPT that it felt a little oily.

Which I now understand it's due to the fact I got the sample more suited for dry skin conditions.

But other than that, everything is pretty lovely!

The coverage was good, the colour matched my skin colour, and it wasn't too heavy and pore clogging too.

Might consider giving this a try when I finish my ZA .

You can really stuff a whole ton of coins inside if you really wish to.

But I think I'm going to use that to store my lip balm, a small bottle of hand lotion and my.. ahem.. medicated oil. Please don't laugh at me about the medicated oil!!

Eh who says only old woman and auntie has a need for medicated oil.

I have another toiletry pouch that I bought in China, also red and polka dotted! But it's red with black polka dots! Super nice man. I have a weird fetish about red and polka dotted pouches. I find them super eye-catching and the bright colours are really cheerful!

"You never really know people, even those you love."

This has been haunting me for quite some time. The knowledge that the people you love, the ones whom you've known since forever, aren't what they seem to be. I think that must really hurt.

Jane Austen once said：

“Nothing is more deceitful than the appearance of humility. It is often only carelessness of opinion, and sometimes an indirect boast.”

In this case, probably it is not humility that's questionable, maybe it's something else. Something that misled you to think that this person is whoever he has led you to believe. I often think that, maybe the reason why we never really know how a person is like, is because we do not open our eyes to see them for who they are.

It happens all too often, when we meet a like-minded person and we heartily call them friends. Thus onwards, we close our eyes to their shortcomings because as a friend, we accept each other for who we are. That is of course acceptable, because that is the unspoken rule of being a friend.

But what if, we are only being accepting because we refuse to acknowledge them for who they really are?

Have we ever sat down and thought about it? Sometimes, in our haste to make friends, to blindly throw ourselves into the social circle, we neglect to ask ourselves this important question. Is your like-minded friend really who you think he is? Are you accepting him for who he really is, or are you simply embracing the idea of him, in love with the idea of such a person.

It is human error, I suppose.

We are often blind to what don't want to accept.

We see only what we want to see.

Only see the good stuff.

When you truly open your eyes, it could be many years later.

That is when you'll ask yourself, "how can this happen?!"

Yes, hindsight is always 20/20.

You will then realize, the signs are always there.

You were simply blind to it back then.

Maybe it's high time we stop feeding our brains the perceived truths, and start seeing the truth instead.

I've let one into the sky in Thailand. I remember it's a dark pink lantern.

The whole sky is lit up with multi-coloured floating lanterns and it looked sooooo beautiful.

Definitely a must-do in this lifetime.

Their cleansing lotions come in 4 different varieties to suit all skin types. I got the try out the Sebum lotion for oilyyy skin. Suits me.

It says here that after using Bifesta, no more further cleansing is required. Let's see how effective that it!

30ml sample!

Bifesta is a WATER-BASED CLEANSER so you can skip the step of further cleansing, and jump straight into bed! If need be, a warm water rinse is enough.

Let's try with something a bit more stubborn than foundation or BB cream. Eye liner! Dirty enough. See how Bifesta fares against this enemy!

The Oscars have arrived, and I am thrilled to say that all I care about is how well-dressed these ladies are. This might make me sound like a bimbo, but who cares?!

I am loving this gown man!! The pleats and the details, the colour, the cut. It's PERFECT.

It's simple and elegant, yet the splash of colour adds a dash of playfulness. Michelle Williams's pixie cut goes very well with the colour, makes her look young and playful.

French manicure

Stress and denial to do work strikes, and I decided to try out the nail guides I bought.

It's actually very tricky and difficult to attempt a French manicure by yourself. But DIY is always so fun, despite the disappointing results sometimes.

It's 10 times more difficult than a normal paint job, things always go wrong.. Such as the nail guide tearing out my base coat -.-

So I had to go with a layer of base coat again which is kinda..irritating. Too much air bubbles as usual.

Been working on it in the middle of the night while watching a gory movie. Bad idea.

Shall attempt something different soon. Hmm..

It looks pretty awesome from far hahahahah.

Despite the difficulties, I kinda like the clean look. Maybe I'll practice more til I can perfect it freehand HAHA... That might happen, probably next year lol...

Since your shop is a participating outlet in prize redemption, I would expect some basic courtesy and common sense. Seriously. You think I carry around a recycling bag everyday?!

I stuffed that into my school bag, totally uncomfortable.

If They’re Not Husband Or Wifey Material,

They’re Not Worth It

I love the concept of dating. I love courtship, getting to know someone, those first butterfly-filled moments where you’re hyper-aware of everything you do and how they might perceive it, where everything they say is new and exciting. It’s a time that we seek over and over again because the kind of potential behind a first kiss is enough to counteract all the negative experiences we might have encountered in the past. And it’s also a time where you’re just figuring things out — there are no guarantees. You may end up becoming serious with this person, or they may just fall by the wayside and never be heard from again. It’s a time of limitless possibility and one in which, even if things don’t work out, it’s not going to really break any hearts. You took each other for a test drive, and just decided not to buy the car. It’s okay.

And my friends were always bewildered — and vocal about it — that I would go out on a lot of “dates.” I liked just going out to dinner with a man if he asked me to, or seeing someone once or twice before deciding that the chemistry wasn’t there for whatever reason. I would meet someone while out, be asked on a date, and go to some dinner/ movie combination that to my friends seemed incredibly old-fashioned. “Why do you date so much?” they would ask me. It seemed a strange question, as just one generation ago, that would be unquestionably the norm — to court someone and decide, rather objectively (before the heady rush of serious sentiments comes into play) that things are just not going to work out. I did this because I liked meeting new people, knew there were many fish in the sea, and wanted to meet many of them before I settled on one. And when I did decide to date, I always saw a serious future as an option with my boyfriends. Only when I knew we couldn’t end up together did I break things off. Now, that doesn’t mean you plan on marrying them or know for sure that they are “the one,” but if things keep going in this direction, that is where it should be headed.

This, of course, is quite the opposite of what many people today consider “dating.” Now, we tend to just fall into relationships with whatever is close to us, convenient, or has already been conquered. Friends will incestuously date within their group of friends, over and over and over. Friends with benefits whom people are not particularly interested in will become de facto boyfriends or girlfriends because, well, we need a date to a wedding. We will exist in a nebulous state of “sort-of dating” our “half-boyfriends” for years on end because it’s better than being single. And of course, if you ask these couples if they would ever consider settling down with said significant other, most would give you a resounding “no.” They would even justify with a “I don’t need to see a serious future with someone I’m dating, it’s just to have fun.” But could anything be more selfish, more unfair, more an insult to the both of you?

First of all, how do we know that the other member of this couple feels the same way? Perhaps what is just a game for you–something to pass the time until something better comes along–is something serious to them. How many couples exist on two planes of commitment, completely unaware that the other doesn’t share their intentions. And even if you are both completely indifferent about the other in the long-term, why become a couple? Why give your time, romantic energy, or half-hearted commitment to someone you don’t see yourself ending up with–for what are likely completely valid reasons? Why stay in this limbo?

It must be tightly interlocked with our deep, gnawing fear of being single. We just passed Valentine’s Day, and think of the hordes of people who used the occasion to spill out their hearts about how incredibly lonely they felt, how left out from a society they imagined as coupled-up, how less-than being without a significant other made them feel. And you don’t need to have a holiday to see this kind of behavior — even on a Saturday night, you’re bound to hear a friend complain about how they just wish they had someone to go out with — as though friends, family, or just themselves is not company enough. Sometimes I would see these kind of sentiments during the long periods of my singlehood, when I was going out on dates here and there but not feeling anything magical, and feel like the only person my age who didn’t care that I was single. I liked being single! Some of my best memories are walking around my city completely alone, doing everything I want to do in the day and not having to consider another person’s itinerary — seeing sights and being alone with my thoughts. Just sitting by the water with a glass of iced tea and a book was some of the most wonderful pleasures I can recall. Of course, my memories shared with significant others are just as beautiful — though in a different way. And loving running hand-in-hand with someone in the rain doesn’t negate an afternoon-long stroll by myself on a warm spring day.

But so many people, I fear, can’t quite enjoy this aloneness. They must replace it with someone — whether to calm their own anxieties or to fulfill some kind of social expectation of themselves. We all know that the twenties are a perpetual state of being asked “if you’ve found someone,” and it can become grating, sure. Just like what the article said, how can you be sure that the other party feels the same as you do. One can argue that it is a mutual agreement. Nothing permanent, just a game. It might be a game to you, just someone to entertain and pass time with, but how can you be sure the other party doesn't want something more. There is bound to be one party weaker than the other, who will succumb more easily to their emotions while the other just takes and takes without a single care in the world.

How insanely selfish is that.

It's selfish and despicable, yet so many people do this and think there is nothing wrong with it. Moral values are nothing to them. I am pretty sure all of us are brought up to be kind souls, not to be selfish, do unto others what you want done unto you, to have empathy. I am beginning to think that as we grow up, moral values are discarded along the way and they develop warped sense of morals. Morals that condone them to be the kind of selfish people they are turning out to be.

Others might argue that times have changed, we are no longer boring and traditional. But that's a sad thing too. Traditions and morals define who are, and now that people are throwing these basic moral values out of the window, it's just pathetic.

Times change, people change, things change. But there are certain things in life that remains the same, regardless of what era we're in. Wrong means wrong. There is no two way about that.

Sadly, less and less of the world shares the same sentiments as me now.
I sincerely hope that, these people out there, you can learn to love and respect yourself more, and the people you are using more.

It was an awesome Valentine's Day.

Started out just like every other day, a Terrible Tuesday. Thanks to the timetable planner, every Tuesday this semester is awful and unbearable.

But towards the end of the day, everything was perfect again. :)

Pink Jelly Sandwich Nails

Doesn't this look awesome?

A little repetitive, but not too complicated, in fact it's pretty easy to do.

All you need is a glitter polish and a jelly polish! A jelly polish looks like opaque colours but they apply really sheer, so when you layer on the glitter, it'll look like it's being suspended in jellyyyyy.. Very cool right!

It's not too messy, since the jelly polish applies like a dream, and since it's so sheer, nobody can spot any mistakes hehh..

2 layers jelly, 2 layers glitter and 2 layers jelly. You can alternate the steps, it's all up to you. I'm loving this manicure! Subtle with a little bling!
Catches the sunlight and shimmersss as well.. :)

I secretly love Pamelyn Chee.

HAHA! She's one kick-ass ICA officer.

I'm sorry Jade Seah you can't hold a candle to her. There's a certain spark to Pamelyn Chee that you just don't have. Not that you're no good. But she's better. She can be so alluring at times without trying too hard, and there wasn't any need for her to shed any clothes to be able to flaunt her figure. Not that it's your fault too hahaha, the scriptwriter specifically wants you to do that in the show. But yes, you're pretty good. But Pamelyn Chee beats you hands down.

Hot villian.

Jourdan Lee is one smoking hot bad guy.

Seriously, I have no idea where they find all these awesome people to film this drama. Half the cast were new people whom I've never seen before. The Thai boxing and swimming scenes were absolutely..riveting. HAHAHAHA!

I am secretly in love with Carl Ng.

HAHAHAHAHAAH!

Not a secret anymore. But he's my weekly eye candy.

Love the brooding, stubborn, sometimes cranky, masochistic on-screen persona. Paired with that pair of killer to-die-for-eyes, I guarantee that if you're a girl, you're a goner.

Why so hot why why why!?

Because I'm a stalker, I wikipedia-ed him. LOL.

Of British and Hong Kong parentage, his father is none other than Richard Ng who is famous for his comedic roles. His mother was once Bruce Lee's hairstylist. Exciting much haha..

Oh and yes, he's a model in Hong Kong.

That should be able to explain his extreme hotness.

It's the season of indulgence again.

An excess of fun, laughter and food.

Number 1 on the Calories Chart: PINEAPPLE TARTS.

This year's pineapple tarts are really fantastic. Melt in your mouth buttery goodness with tangy pineapple paste. Love the little strands of fibre. More fun!

Seaweed! These are fattening, but at least there's no hint of salt. Rather addictive.

The crunch is quite shiok haha..

My number 1 vice every year: Arrowhead Chips

These are fabulous arrowhead chips!!! Couldn't ask for more. They don't taste like they're dripping in oil, mildly salty and very very crunchy. Damn good. Non-stop munching.

Number 2 favourite and all-time vice as well: Prawn Rolls or more affectionally known as the Hae Bi Hiam Rolls.

Woo-hoo snacks. Spicy, fragrant, crunchy, yummy.

They are the reason behind every sore throat I have annually. I believe this tops the Calories Chart too.

How? Utterly addictive.

A well-written book is well-written not simply because of flawless sentences and perfect grammar, it's because there's life in the characters. It's real, it's human, and it's a reflection of your life, your friends, and you. You see you in the characters, you feel the story, you feel their pain their happiness their loss. You're living out your fantasies your dreams your alternate reality in fiction. There is nothing that is more absorbing and intriguing than that. Books are a gift. A good book leaves you breathless, fascinated, and a little sad when you finally get to the end. It's like saying goodbye to yourself, closing a chapter of that part of your life, moving on to another great book, another great chapter..

Top 10 Movies of 2011

2011 is over and I have discovered that I absolutely LOVE watching movies. So not to waste all those hours I spent either in the cinema or at home watching these marvelous works, I shall do a top 10 chart of my favourite movies of the year.

Incidentally, this will also be the first post of 2012. :)

NUMBER 1:

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS

I like the whole plot, it's basically a tribute to Paris and it shows Paris is her best light. The whole living with the arts and culture lifestyle. Love it when Owen Wilson catches a 1920 Peugeot Landaulet and travel back in time to meet his literary idols Hemmingway and various other famous authors and artists such as Picasso and Matisse. It was a delighting tale, full of olden Paris glamour and modern Paris romanticism.

NUMBER 2:

WE BOUGHT A ZOO

This is a wonderful story, and coupled with the right actors and actresses, the whole story came to life. Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson are fabulous. Especially Matt Damon, oh he's wayyyy awesome. I love how he portrays the character and I love the emotions he brought into the film. The animals are really cute, they make you want to visit the zoo right this minute. A heartwarming story and definitely deserving of the number 2 on my list of favourite movies. :)

NUMBER 3:

REAL STEEL

Real Steel is one of the movies that I get to watch for free, it was a Nuffnang preview and it was satisfying. Hugh Jackman never fails. I love his role, and I love the plot. The whole robot fighting is way cool, not to mention the small kid featured in the film is tooooo cute to resist. It's a heartwarming tale, packed with enough excitement and fighting elements to get your pulse racing. Plus points, the robots are ridiculously cool.

NUMBER 4:

HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2

Harry Potter. Need I say more? The stuff of your childhood dreams. Heck it's MY childhood dream too. If not for the fact the first time I picked up the book is when I was 14, I would have thought Hagrid would come for me with a Hogwarts letter too.. The books are a legend, I re-read them over and over and I never tire of them. It's an excellent place for your mind to escape to.. Even though this is the last movie, I guess I can always live the magical dream again and again, with movie reruns ;)

NUMBER 5:

CAPTAIN AMERICA

CHRIS EVANS. Drop dead hottie.

Captain America's story is not what I expected at all, not having read the Marvel comic version before.. But I must say, this is one superhero I can learn to like. Major plus points? Chris Evans's amazing bod. =p

NUMBER 6:

X-MEN FIRST CLASS

X-men first class is bombastic. Love it love it love it. I like how the story unravels and you understand why and how the characters are the way they behave. Tops all the other X-men movies, this is by far the best. Exciting, action-packed, pulse-racing. Thumbs up.

NUMBER 7:

JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN

It's Mr Bean hahahahaha. Best comedian ever. If ever I'm in need of a laugh, all I have to do it turn to Mr Bean. Johnny English is pretty cool, predictable plot but I watch it for the comical factor so it's basically still pretty enjoyable! Such a happy movie..

NUMBER 8:

FRIGHT NIGHT

Fright Night is the first movie I watch for free from Nuffnang. I didn't know it was a horror/thriller film. Scared myself to death when Colin Farrell turned pretty freaky and vampirish. He has this really dark aura about him. Dark but sexy and intriguing. What a deadly combination. But good movie nontheless.

NUMBER 9:

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ON STRANGER TIDES

It's my favourite Captain Jack Sparrow! Love the swagger and crazy demeanor that Johnny Depp brings to life in his role. It was a pretty cool sequel, with mermaids and all that. No more Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley though, a little sad there. They brought in Penelope Cruz who is marvellous of course, she brings an exotic touch to the whole movie. All in all, a decent movie.

NUMBER 10:

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS

I didn't watch this for Robert Pattinson. LOL. The whole story is pretty alright, something I haven't watched before at least. It's a circus story, and I love the animals portrayed in the movie. It's very lively and Reese Witherspoon is a highly accomplished actress. Nice change from all your contemporary love stories.

That concludes my favourite movies of 2011, even though I think there are a couple more I've yet to watch such as The Rum Diary, One Day and The Adjustment Bureau.. hahaha.. not enough time!

But no fear, I'll continue watching more movies this year so watch this space.. :)

I chose to have pale green and black!

They're from The Faceshop, SGD2.90 per bottle. Relatively cheap haha..

Took some pins from Mum's sewing kit, and I happen to have a broken eraser lying around. Poke the pin through the eraser, lest you stab yourself accidentally.

Disposable ware. Dab some polish on to the plate, so you can dip your pin in easily. This ensures that you don't get excess polish on to the pin too. Easy Peasy!

The rest is up to your creativity! Awesome fun for a lazy Friday, now I have cutesy nails to end the year with me, oh yay! :)

We Bought A Zoo!

I think this is topping my favourite movie of 2011.

I might change my mind after I watch my copy of Midnight in Paris, afterall Woody Allen is a genius..

But oh no matter what We Bought A Zoo will still be in my Top 3 Movies of the Year ;)

Awesome trailer I must say, fills you with hope.

Action-packed cast!

Matt Damon! The last movie of his that left me with a deep impression was The Bourne Supremacy.

Jason Bourne kicks ass. Still looking pretty hot in that tuxedo huh..

All the pretty girls in the movie!

Scarlett Johansson! Oh I love her.. she has an awesome on-screen personality, very witty and fabulous acting skills too. Don't forget, she's absolutely gorgeous as well!

Elizabeth Jones! Say AWWWWW SO CUTE!

She's absolutely adorable, those strawberry blond curls and that cutesy voice, I hope my future daughter turns out just as adorable. HAHAAH!

Elle Fanning! Yes I hear you, she's really related to Dakota Fanning. Younger sister in fact.

They don't look alike. In my opinion. Elle has a sweeter and more naive and innocent look. Dakota possesses more of an edge you know, which is actually good since that doesn't keep her trapped in stereotypical roles. Elle has a sweeter disposition, unless she's given the chance to try a more daring role, I think she'll be stuck in the girl-next-door roles.

Now let's move on..

WELCOME TO ROSEMOOR WILDLIFE PARK

Based on a true story, Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) plays a widower, who is sick of people's sympathy and worst of all, sympathy casseroles and lasagnas. He's sick of being called to his son's school, because his teenager has decided to react to his mum's death by being insanely rebellious.

He uproots his entire family - his fourteen year old son Dylan and seven year old girl Rosie (Elizabeth Jones) to the countryside. More specifically, a zoo. Well, a lovely house in a zoo.

Meet the staff of the Rosemoor Wildlife Park. Kelly (Scarlett Johansson) is the head zookeeper.

Tough job. The zoo was closed down and seriously lacking in many aspects. Sick and old animals, mouldy poles, rusty hinges. Benjamin poured himself into work, just so he'll forget about his deceased wife Katherine.

Spar the Tiger was old and ill. Benjamin was faced with the dilemma of putting the tiger out of his misery of forcing him to live. An emotional scene, triggered by his memory of Katherine, ill and fading away..

The love he felt for his wife was tremendous and overwhelming. Matt Damon you have truly outdone yourself in all the late night reminiscing scenes. It was one of those rare You Cry I Cry movie moments. Maybe it was a hormonal imbalance that made me more susceptible the the emotional scenes, but I'll like to think it was because Matt Damon has unparalleled acting skills. That and the fact that this is the kind of story that everyone can relate to. Not the buying a zoo part, but the acute feeling of loss, the kind of desperation that pushes you to do crazy things, the kind of love so strong that having lost it makes life too unbearable. That kind of pain hurts so deep, it's heart-wrenching.

You work so hard during the daytime to runaway from all the memories yet it creeps up on you at night, when you sit idle with no more work to entertain your mind. Everywhere is a memory. Everything is a trigger.
Everything reminds you of the love you once had but lost. It's impossible to run away from it.

After a whole lotta events and arguments and outbursts and sulking, Dylan's finally embracing the zoo life haha.. Patching things up with his teenager, and that is a significant turning point indeed. Watch the movie to find out more hehh hehh..

After all the hard work and preparations, Rosemoor Wildlife Park is ready to rock and rolllllllll!

The zoo is open and the visitors are rolling in.... Loving Rosie even more in her cute zookeeper uniform doing the commentary on peacocks hahaha..

It was a great movie and Matt Damon has been truly wonderful.

I'm so happy I'll be ending the year with such a heart-warming movie.

Black Swan

Watched Black Swan on Christmas Day and freaked myself out badly.

Wikipedia told me it's a psychological thriller. Isn't that a comfort, after I got freaked out about a gazillion times throughout the movie.

The movie opened with the girls of a famous New York ballet company practicing.

The company is going to open a new show, the classical Swan Lake with a twist.

The Swan Queen must possess both the White Swan and Black Swan qualities.

Nina (Natalie Portman) got the role as the Swan Queen and is perfect as the White Swan. However she has problems with the Black Swan, which is what Lily (Mila Kunis) is perfect at.

Nina's techniques and practices are all basically rendered useless because her Black Swan lacks soul.

As she practices harder, and the performance date drew closer, Nina's hallucinations becomes stranger and wilder. Might I add, her hallucinations were way too freaky for me to handle. The theory that Nina must posses both the Black and White Swan qualities stemmed from the doppelganger theory - a duplicate of yourself but with a wholly opposite personality. Nina is having hallucinations of herself, a darker version of herself that's wrestling to surface.

I must say the Black Swan costume and makeup is indeed rather seductive and scary.

Nina's hallucinations were getting worse and there were black thorns and feathers sprouting all over her back and arms until she's covered in black feathers. Only in reality, there's nothing.

But the Black Swan really came through in that scene.

The end was tragic, I'm not sure if Nina really died, just like the White Swan did in the Swan Lake. But it's really one hell of a movie and certain scenes that were more creepy, I think they're going to be imprinted on my mind for quite a long time..

Yummy succulent pieces of prawn mixed with sweet and slightly tangy mango cubes!

All-time favourite dish.

This didnt't disappoint at all.

Succulent, soft, and nicely marinated. Too good to be missed!

Best Siew Mai I've ever eaten.

You can literally taste the prawn pieces when you bite into the siew mai.

The roe scattered on top provided a nice bite and crunch as well.

Scallop Chee Cheong Fan!

Wa so good can!!!!!!

Melts in your mouth awesome, scallops are fresh and succulent. Sauce is not too salty, complements the rice rolls perfectly.

Best dim sum in Singapore.

Beats Red Star, hands down.

But as for the Xiao Long Bao, I still think the ones I had in China are THE BEST. It's not bad, but hey, you can't beat the authentic ones in China. hahaha!

Basically I only eat. The cooking has been left to people who are more adept at using the BBQ plate.

Surprises about being an adult:

1. Awkward phases continue through adulthood. So do pimples. Ugh. Hair does get a little less frizzy, though.

2. You are really guessing at how to do things a lot of the time.

3. You don’t magically know the answers.

4. You still get your feelings hurt.

5. Sometimes your body hurts, for like, no reason.

6. You start to wake up early because you want to.

7. You find out that boring things really are interesting.

8. People are still looking for friends.

9. People are still really, really funny.

10. People start to look young really, really quickly. And they look really, really young.

11. You never feel old.

12. Gray hairs just sprout on up.

13. Nothing really feels like the end of the world anymore. At least not every week.

14. Staying in is heavenly. Going to bed at 10 on a Friday is luxurious.

15. You understand more jokes.

16. You don’t automatically understand politics.

17. You realize how human your parents are, and how clueless they were when they had you.

18. You really do have to take care of that bod.

19. You still cry. Maybe a lot.

20. You tend to wear the same amount of clothing all year round.

21. Halloween is even MORE fun; whether it be the parties or giving out candy to trick or treaters.

Awesome things about being an adult:

1. You make your own choices, for the most part, and set your own goals.

2. You can get a pet.

3. Sarcasm increases linearly with age.

4. You can call in sick.

5. You can change up your style and no one is really monitoring it anymore.

6. You can have whatever you want for meals, whenever you want.

7. You can go to bed late.

8. You can have a glass of wine to relax – There is no need to binge drink.

9. People appreciate the things that make you different.

10. You can get back into cool hobbies… There are no uncool hobbies (except murder and stuff I guess… But hey, look at Dexter?).

11. Rest assured, everyone is sort of blindly forging their way, and you can help each other.

12. Feeling in control and responsible is actually pretty rewarding, eventually (trust the rebel that never wanted to settle down)!

13. Your parents become an entirely new source of wisdom, as they really do know what you were going through (even though they had NO IDEA in high school).

So those are my reflections after a particularly adult-like past couple of months. I am realizing I am just an experienced, wise kid having a blast in this adult life. I enjoy life, and my responsibilities to myself and the people and things I care about. Does that sound boring and nerdy or what? Well, surprisingly it’s not. Not at all. Added bonus? Re-watching My So Called Life, I still relate 100% to Angela… And now I also relate 100% to her Mom. I might cover my grays with “Crimson Glow” and cut my hair short.

Quite some time back, I randomly entered in some Ikea catalogue contest and I won....

A Sweet Temptations UniGift Certificate for Two!!!

I think that signifies a change of luck.

Hahahaha!

From then on I've randomly and actively participated in big and small contests, just to test my luck heehee..

I'm glad to know Lady Luck still favors me from time to time, and winning something does wonders to perk me up too! :)

It was a really good deal, the UniGift Certificate comes with a booklet of participating retailers, so I get to pick where and what I wanna use the voucher for.

I picked Hédiard Cafe and Restaurant because they offered the most out of the menu! HAHAHA!

We were entitled to a plate with a patisserie from the set menu dessert selection accompanied with a fruit jelly, a chocolate truffle and a Turkish delight, and a cup of coffee or tea per person.

I have the entire pot to enjoy!

I love their tea.

When the waitress brought the tea bags over, I was literally bubbling with excitement.

The aroma was divine.

I wanted to grab the entire bag and stuff it under my pillow to help me sleep better, that is how fantastic their tea is. Their tea came with a small cube of fruit jelly too..yumm..

The darker flatter piece of sugared confectionery is the fruit jelly.

So sweet it'll give you a toothache, I love it!

The texture is chewy, like sugared gummy candies.

The bigger cube of rose pink is the Turkish delight.

The texture is also chewy, but less sticky as compared to the fruit jelly.

The chocolate truffle is an almond coated with chocolate and cocoa powder.

Slightly bitter to balance out all the sugary sweetness of the fruit jelly and Turkish delight.

Bourbon Vanilla Mille-Feuille

This is THE bomb.

It is one of those food which sends you into an upward spiral of ecstasy and you will never ever believe any other cafe can make a mille-feuille as good as Hédiard's.

The powdered sugar icing, the crisp pastry, the thick and aromatic cream that fills your mouth..

I think this qualifies as a food orgasm.

Totally unrivaled.

Moelleux Chocolate with Vanilla Anglaise

This is sure to send all chocolate loves straight to Chocolate Haven.

Warm chocolate cake with thick warm chocolate oozing out..

Paired with the Vanilla Anglaise, I think you would have thought you died and went to Chocolate Heaven.

It was an awesome dessert dinner hahaha, best of all it's FREE!

We were so full after the dessert we decide to skip dinner altogether.

It's a really nice place for an afternoon of escape, just really nice soft music and a pot of warm tea..

Howl's Moving Castle

Many many years ago, when this movie came out, I was really excited.

But the strange thing was, nobody wanted to watch it.

So I ended up not watching it.

Biggest movie mistake I've ever made, by not watching it.

It was a lovely story, speaking of fantasy and imagination and love and kinship and kindness and forgiveness.

A wonderful story made better with Joe Hisashi's fabulous background music that tugs at your heartstrings.

The movie began with a strange mess of metallic clicking house walking along on claws. Intriguing. That is in fact the moving castle. Whose moving castle? Yepp you guessed right, Howl's Moving Castle.
Who is Howl?

This is Howl. The black-haired cutie pie.

A short character introduction.

Sophie. She was a lovely young girl but she crossed the Evil Witch when she accidentally fell in love with Howl. The Evil Witch turned her into this frail 90 year old lady.

This is Howl. Utterly handsome, with an air of confidence and mystery but a very kind face and smile.

The fire in How's castle. Hahaha!

A charming little character who injected a lot of humour into the show.

The scarecrow. He's been cursed, just like Sophie. This character doesn't talk at all, but strangely it's a very endearing character. It exudes kindness and friendliness, which spoke volume even though it was a soundless act.

The Evil Witch. Uber disgusting. So are her henchmen.

The interior of the castle. A right old mess. Sophie escaped when the Witch turned her into an old lady and she ended up in the Castle! She took it upon herself to clean up and place to make it suitable for human habitat.

Howl said this to Sophie in one of the scenes.

It was such a touching moment.

Sophie's heart, the goodness of her heart shone through the ugly and old exterior of her 90 year old body to touch Howl's heart.

In fact, I believed the curse cast on Sophie reflected how she felt and thought. At times she regained her youthful appearance but at times it faded back again.

It was a difficult time as war was raging, Howl rescued Sophie..

Hayao Miyazaki once said that his movies are not children movies.

I agreed.

He said they were movies for adults that appealed to children.

Well-said..

Children would not have been able to comprehend the hidden meanings or fully appreciated the dark fantasy of the movie. But the darkness of the the fantasy is exactly what drew me in, the storyline is not superbly intricate but that is exactly what I like about it. You are given free rein to feel, to imagine and to soak up the mood of the animation.

The story had a really good ending and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Definitely watching it a second time. :)

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

Best museum experience and best exhibition I've ever seen.

This is a definite must-go must-see must-experience exhibition.

Art Science Museum is gorgeous, the exhibition was fantastic. The whole concept is very cool, very modern.

Upon entering, you receive this Boarding Pass. Makes you feel like you're really boarding a cruise! Titanic here I come!

Unfortunately no photography is allowed for this exhibition :(

But they took us through the whole exhibition, of which the interior is styled like the real Titanic.

There's the Veranda Cafe, complete with the menu, cutlery categorized according the the 3 different class cabins. We were also shown the cabins, first class was like king man.. Silk sheets, even their own personal sink haha! Third class cabins were near the boiler room so they re-created the smoky effect and the boiler room sounds. Very realistic!

We even saw a piece of the Titanic ship body, the entire room for that was way cool. Glass floors and the bottom were all sand to recreate the underwater seabed effect. There were those strange lights that created those underwater sunlight effect, it felt like I was walking in the sea!

In one room, we get to view a video of how the Titanic sunk. Not the movie version hahaha.
A very cool piece of technology lay in that room too.

An iceberg.

I doubt it was a real iceberg. But it recreated the temperature of the sea when the Titanic sunk. My fingers were numb after 3 seconds, and the best thing is..my hands were wet. The fake iceberg dripped water. I have no idea how they did it but it's excellent.

It was such an educational and awesome experience. Go and catch it now before it's gone!

Psst.. it's the 100th anniversary, 100 years since Titanic sunk! The micro-organisms have been eating away at the ship for over 70 years underwater before they managed to retrieve it. Which meant another 100 years more, you won't be able to even see the ship body at any Titanic exhibition, the micro-organisms would have eaten all of it away!

Fiction Fetish

Fictional guys are just..so hot you know..

They possess all the qualities you seek in a partner, have a killer bod and boyish charm. They can be anything you want, a perfect gentlemen, a roguish pirate, a smokin' hot assassin, a bad boy vampire with smouldering eyes, a kickass secret government agent...the possibilities are endless!

If in the case you happen to reach for a book with a less than desirable male lead. Well..next time just go for a different book! Unlike in real life, you can really just dump em' if they're not to your liking.

Really...great men through the times..

Look at Mr Darcy..he can be an a-hole but somehow, women have twisted minds. His a-hole-ness is kinda sexy at times..

The only drawback is you start to develop unrealistic expectations of real men in real life, and you lament why oh why do they not behave or look like your fictional hero..

Well... It's hard to live up to the expectations of a guy who only lives in a book and in your head.
But..in the meantime, I guess I can just continue enjoying my fictional men.. ;)

This is an awesome awesome movie. All the nominees aren't there just for show you know.

It's a touching story of how a man embraces a career that is under -appreciated and unacknowledged and considered improper by everyone, even his wife. It's touching and enlightening and it makes you think..

The moments he spent in the bath were significant, it seemed to be when he let go of everything and pondered over life's little things, over his job..

Rokyo Hirosue plays the main character's wife. I think she's everyone's ideal woman, cooks clean wash and adores the husband and exceptionally gentle and charismatic.

Yes the career is this. Dressing and sending the departed off. Dealing with bodies and tearful families. It's not a job everyone can do, you got to be respectful yet professional. Calm steady hands and a calm steady heart.

You learn alot, from observing the families of the bereaved.

This scene is beautiful. It's accompanied by soulful cello music that really tugs at your heartstrings.

From a rookie, he is now a pro. But that doesn't mean the job gets any easier.

This is also a really touching scene. Stones are used here to represent one's hopes and emotions. The receiver gets to interpret the meaning of the stone. It's significant because it represents the change in the main character's feelings.

Go and watch this movie. I promise you won't regret it.

It's a really heartwarming and inspiring story, I like how the story plays out. Most importantly, I like the flair and cutsey factor little Max brings into the movie. Hugh Jackman is as usual, fantastic. Happiness boost! :)

Security was wayyy tight, we had to deposit our phones and mp3 at the counter before we were allowed to go in. Bag checks at the cinema entrance before we went in too. The security guards machiam like some bouncer, can rival Chris Evans already.

Spot ATOM - the spunky little robot featured in the movie! He'll be there til Sunday at The Cathay, go catch him now if you haven't!

Very very cool, I like this! Japan robot, you can customize the language haha! Very sleek and shiny!

ATOM

Junkyard robot! He was scrounged from the junkyard and put back to life. Amazingly it still works. The old school design also seemed like he's smiling down at you, very endearing!

Can you see me swooning already? Cool machine and a super hot guy! *melts*

Story goes like this..

Charlie - Hugh Jackman is an ex-boxer, world class contender. Then the game changed and he's out, and into the world of robot boxing. His long-time friend Bailey Tallet - Evangelline Lilly helps him fix up all this broken toys and gets him new robots.

One fine day, while he took his Ambush out for a losing fight against a bull, he was informed that his ex-girlfriend was dead and she was survived by her 11 year old son Max.

Well... you guessed it. Charlie's no dad material, as can be proven by the fact he dumped them 10 years ago and he's now here to waive all rights as a father. Max would be adopted by Barbara, Charlie's ex-girlfriend's sister.

BUT hard up for cash Charlie struck a deal with Barbara's rich-ass old husband to sell him for cash. LOL. Perfect daddy material ain't he?

Max would spend the summer with Charlie until Barbara and husband gets back from their trip.

Turns out little Max is a huge ass robot boxing fan as well. Bailey got them a Noisy Boy and they were off in a jiffy to get in the latest fight.

Look at little Max, he's intimidated hahahaha..

Noisy Boy VS Mohawk Midas

Noisy Boy lost.

Nopes, not because it was a lousy piece of metal. More because Charlie didn't bother to read up the manual and figure out the proper commands to give, which means money down the drain, again. You can start to see the cycle repeating itself.

A junkyard trip to score free parts ended up with Max lugging home a robot. A really dirty robot, but it's working perfectly fine!

Charlie is unsupportive hahahah. Look at Max's disgruntled expression. Trudged through mud and rain, he's as dirty as the robot he lugged home.

After a good wash, Atom looks as good as new. Best thing is, it's a sparring robot which means it can really take the hits. Good piece of metal. Atom started small but is gradually winning fights left right center. Cool eh..

Max has been teaching Atom to DANCE.

Hahahaha yes, ain't that cool? He looks so dirty, all smudged with dirt but he looks like a miniature Charlie. Cute..

Max gave Charlie the confidence to pick up boxing again, even if he's just shadow boxing for Atom.

Hmmm, if it was me..

I would probably want a robot that can COMPLETE MY ASSIGNMENTS FOR ME!!!

Now, wouldn't that be the coolest?!?! Imagine that! *slips off into a daydream*

No more slogging of assignments and whatnot, my robot will do it all for me. I'll probably name my robot The Superhuman Me. Hehh hehh.. life's good I know lol.. Assignments are the bane of my life, nobody who's sane will enjoy doing assignments. That's the equivalent of saying you enjoy being tortured mentally. Crazy. Having a robot who will finish my homework for me is very ideal. All I have to do it program him to complete the following assignments in a certain time frame and he can finish them for me. Easy peasy.

Hmm, you know what? I think The Superhuman Me can attend my examinations for me as well. Isn't that useful? I'll compile all my notes in softcopy for him and insert this thumbdrive into him hahahahah. Then I'll download all the information inside and he can cipher and sift through all the information during the examinations! Now that's what I call an easy life!! :D
